Therefore, the HWC process is based on the attestation by the writers themselves that their project is Written By Real Humans. It is based on trust in your integrity as the writer.

In all honesty, yes, they could. There are those few people out there who might attempt to deceive us, as with just about any process that you could name. However, HWC believes that the vast majority of people can be counted on to provide honest information for the purpose of this type of process.

Additionally, suppose someone were to apply for and receive approval from HWC to use its Seal and it is discovered later that the work they submitted the application for contains a significant amount of AI-generated material. In that case, Human Writes Certifications could seek legal recourse to compel them to cease and desist from further use of the Seal.

Yes, you can. The HWC process is not a purity test or anti-AI. It is a source of recognition and support for writers who are committed to Human-To-Human communication. You can use AI for things like research, creating an outline, grammar and spell check, editing support, creating tables or charts to include in your writing project, etc. As long as the overall writing itself comes from your thoughts, ideas, and through your own creative expression. The main criteria for the use of the Human Writes Certifications Seal is that at least 90% of the text submitted has been written by Real Humans.

Yes, you can still apply for the HWC Seal if your writing project includes only a small amount of AI-generated text. However, at least 90% of the written material of your overall writing project must be Written By Real Humans.

The writer must attest through the HWC application process that the written material being applied for has been Written By Real Humans.

The written material being applied for must have been written by the applicant or a group of authors that the applicant is a part of or represents.

At least 90% of the content of the written material being applied for must be Written By Real Humans, with only minimal, if any, material produced by Generative AI tools.

It is permissible to use AI or other writing tools as part of the writing process, but only in a support function. NOT for the overall writing of the content itself.

All established laws regarding copyright infringement and plagiarism should also be adhered to in relation to your writing project.

Once you have applied for and received the HWC Seal, you can use it and size it in any way you choose for the published or unpublished written material for which you applied.

You can affix the HWC Seal to the front or back cover of your books, and/or on one of the inside jacket pages on any and all formats and editions of your book or material.

You can display it on your music albums or CDs, or on your script, website, blog, social media platform, or any other form of your written material that you have applied for. You can even use it in your promotion of these same materials. 

Important Note – You should not change the overall design or color of the HWC Seal (a legally protected mark) in your usage.

Yes, you can. You can apply for and use the HWC Seal for any of your writings that you have published in the past, present, or are planning to publish in the future.

Yes, you can. If the written material applied for meets the criteria for the HWC process, any and all contributing authors can use the HWC Seal on the material and in their promotion of this same material, while adhering to the established usage criteria.

Absolutely NOT. There are no subscription or membership fees required for the HWC process. You do not have to join anything or belong to a special group before applying. The HWC process is open to all writers of any kind, from brand new self-published writers to seasoned writing professionals in any type of writing field.

If you have been awarded an HWC Seal, HWC will have a record of your application approval. Therefore, all you would need to do is message us with your request through the CONTACT US page of the HWC website, and we will gladly resend your HWC Seal for the writing project you applied for.
